Russia developing frigate capable of carrying 48 cruise missiles

The Severnoye Design Bureau has completed the preliminary design and is now working on the engineering documentation for Project 22350M upgraded frigates developed in accordance with the Defense Ministry’s mission requirements. The upgraded frigates with deadweight increased to 7,000 tons will be able to carry 48 Kalibr cruise missiles on board.

Although Russia also produces other types of sea-based cruise missiles, it is Kalibr that is likely to continue as the core equipment for the Russian Navy for many years, since these land attack missiles are almost as good as the US Tomahawks, and the anti-ship version, capable of developing a supersonic speed on the final leg of the flight, may even be more effective.
