Russia launches parallel import of electronic devices

Retail stores have begun importing electronics using the new scheme. Svyaznoi was the first of the major retailers to confirm parallel importing of electronic devices.

The devices will be 10–20% more expensive, mainly due to the new delivery schemes and the general price hike. As before, devices will have warranty protection and any defective devices will be refunded.  

“If we manage to achieve similar conditions for non-personal equipment, it will be relatively easy to adapt to the sanctions on Russian imports,” comments Sergei Khestanov, economist and Associated Professor of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). “But we are expecting many more difficulties with products for non-personal use.”
