Experts have tested Russia’s first ‘cyber cosmonaut’ Fedor, including its VR headset and the operator’s exoskeleton.

Fedor will make its pioneer mission to the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz MS spacecraft in 2019. The robot will also be launched from the Baikonur Space Center in to the open space to test Russia’s new Federation spacecraft in 2022. According to the RIA Novosti news agency, Fedor (Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research) will be renamed Skybot F-850 ahead of the mission to the ISS. Experts did not explain why it will be renamed.

The robot, just like its human counterparts, will undergo medical tests ahead of the mission to check the work of its sensors. Experts also want to test the loading of the robot in the spacecraft.
