Russia to build its longest zip line

The country’s longest zip line might appear in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Region. According to the TASS news agency, it will be built at the Gora Belaya ski resort, part of the tourist cluster near Nizhny Tagil.

The new zip line will provide an extreme travel across a gorge on a pulley suspended on a steel cable, with the speed reaching dozens of kilometers per hour. The length of the zip line will be 1.5 kilometers. The project cost is RUR 75 mio ($1.2 mio). The construction will begin in 2020-2021. The project will be implemented by one of the resident companies of the cluster, where glamping (‘glamorous camping’) will also appear. The total investment in the projects might reach RUR 1.5 bln ($23 mio).

However, the Russian zip line will be shorter than the foreign ones: the world’s longest zip line – almost 3 kilometers – is located in the United Arab Emirates. In all, there are over 700 zip lines in the world. Russia’s longest zip line is currently the one at the Gorki Gorod resort. It is slightly longer than one kilometer.
