Russian agricultural sector goes digital

Digital Agro, a leading player in Russia’s agricultural IT solutions market, has bought 25% of the software development company that has created Agrosignal , a GPS-based system that monitors actual harvest indicators via censors installed in farm vehicles, compares them with planned figures, and offers proper economic planning solutions to agricultural workers.

The acquisition amount is not disclosed; yet, according to experts, this is the largest deal in this market. Agrosignal shareholders include the system’s founders and developers, as well as the Internet Initiatives Development Fund.

Currently, Agrosignal and Digital Agro jointly monitor over 4 mio hectares of fields, with over 200 farms using the system.
