Russian agriculture export to Jordan grows

The Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev announced this during the meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental commission on trade, economy, science and technology, Ministry of Agriculture’s press service reports.

According to Dmitry Patrushev, agriculture is a key area of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Jordan in trade and economy. In the first 9 months of the year, agricultural trade between the countries increased by more than 2 times compared to the same period last year and amounted to $110 mio. At the same time, the largest part of trade accounts for export of Russian agricultural products.

“Compared to the last year’s figures, our deliveries to Jordan increased 2.3 times, to $109.7 mio. The growth was due to the expansion of grain exports, in particular wheat and barley,” Dmitry Patrushev said.

Other key Russian exports to Jordan are tobacco and tobacco products, as well as dried leguminous crops. According to the Minister, Russia is interested in a further increase of supplies to the Jordanian market. The perspective markets include grain, meat, dairy and fish products.
