Russian cities ranked by demand for telemedicine

In 2019, the largest number of requests for remote medical consultations, more than a third of the total number, was received from residents of Moscow. Ufa with about 10% of all requests ranked second by popularity of the service, followed by St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk and Samara, website of Sberbank reports.

The figures are based on requests from Sberbank clients who use DocDoc telemedicine platform as a free additional feature of Sberbank life insurance policies. Compared to 2018, the demand for online medical consultations has almost tripled.

While in 2018 only 38% of all patients who sought medical help were male, last year their number increased to 44%. In 2019, clients aged 25–40 used telemedicine more often (61% of all requests), ranking second were patients aged 40–55 (27%), followed by people over 55 (10%). About 70% of online consultations are provided by general practitioners and 12% by pediatricians.
