Russian citizens may now travel abroad

Russian citizens may travel abroad in order to get medical assistance, take care of sick relatives as well as to study or work, Moscow Mayor’s website reports.

“Many people find it very important to be in our country, including to help sick relatives. Some, on the contrary, need to leave for some serious reasons. The government is amending the restrictions regime for the people who found themselves in such a situation,” Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the presidium of the Coordination Council for countering the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.

Foreign nationals, who want to undergo treatment in medical organizations, may also come to Russia. The foreigners who have close relatives, guardians or trustees requiring care in Russia, will also receive single-entry permits.

Russia suspended regular and charter flights to and from other countries in March to stop the spread of COVID-19. For over a week, the growth of the cases of the infection did not exceed 2% and in Moscow it was a mere 1%. In total, 12.5 mio coronavirus tests have been carried out in Russia.

Moscow is gradually lifting the restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic: industrial and building companies already resumed their work on 12 May, non-food shops and most consumer services reopened on 1 June. Walks and sports outdoors have also been permitted. Digital passes and self-isolation in Moscow will be cancelled. As of 9 June barber shops, beauty salons, veterinary clinics and employment agencies have been working again.
