Russian company launches satellite image sales

Terra Tech (a subsidiary of Russian Space Systems) is launching retail sales of high-resolution satellite images. Customers will be able to buy extremely detailed (up to 80 cm per pixel) images of the planet surface.

Until now, only images of large sections were available for bulk purchase; the waiting time was at least several days while the minimum order had to be RUR 15K ($224). Thanks to the new project, customers will be able to order single images of a territory of interest (if the database contains them) online and pay with a credit card.

The official launch of the online purchase of satellite images is expected in late June at a car dealership in Zhukovsky. The system itself will begin operating as soon as in September.
