Russian engineers to create a talking robot

By 2025, Russian engineers from the Novosibirsk State Technical University plan to create the world’s first robot that will be designed to communicate with people. Dasha, the new robot, will be able to talk to people and it would be very difficult to differentiate between its speech and a human’s.

The robot will be able to pass the Turing test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior, and in the future will become a comprehensive dialog partner. Researchers expect that a new science, human-machine communications, will appear.

The developer is Dasha AI, founded by graduates of the Novosibirsk State Technical University. Talking robots will be sold to banks, healthcare facilities and insurance companies where they can replace human employees who work with people. According to the TASS news agency, the robots will cruise the room and solve clients’ problems.

Unlike ordinary chatbots, Dasha will be able to answer unexpected and non-standard questions; it will be much more complex than Google and IBM virtual assistants.
