On April 22, the Ministry of Defense will begin accepting applications for the Breakthrough into the Future competition in the Best Innovative Project for the Russian Armed Forces category. The competition is held annually as part of the Army of Russia Festival.
According to the ministry website, the event is organized by the ministry’s Main Directorate for Scientific Research and Technological Support of Advanced Technologies (Innovative Research).
Over the three years the ministry has been hosting the competition, the quality of the projects submitted has improved, and the number of participants has increased. Overall, about 200 projects have been longlisted for the competitions, and the best of them have been recommended for implementation to create new types of weapons and military equipment.
This year, the prize-winners will be given the opportunity to demonstrate the results of their R&D activities in the main exhibition room of the Patriot exhibition and convention center during the ARMY-2019 International Military Technical Forum.
The Breakthrough into the Future competition creates an environment for the application of innovations in new military and dual-use products, identifies talented designers and promotes innovation activity.
