Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to raise vehicle tax on old cars

The vehicle tax on old cars may be increased starting next year, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov said.

According to Morozov, the tax will be raised for Euro 3 and lower vehicles. The Deputy Minister also added at a meeting in Engels, that the increase might be quite significant, Prime news agency reports.

Head of the State Duma for Transport and Construction Yevgeny Moskvichyov suggested that the Deputy Prime Minister should prohibit commercial vehicles, such as trucks and minivans, with a low Euro emission standard. He believes that all commercial vehicles aged 35-37 should be disposed of.
