Russian tourists become tight-fisted when buying holiday week tours

Russians now tend to choose more budget tours for the New Year holidays. According to representatives of the travel industry, tourists from Russia often opt for inexpensive destinations such as Turkey, the UAE and China over exotic travels.

Interestingly, another trend is a decrease in tourists’ interest in Southeast Asia. According to Travelata.ru, 11% of tour buyers plan to make a New Year trip to India, although last year, 13% of their customers chose that destination.

The flow of tourists to Thailand is shrinking as well, for the first time in four years. Over the first ten months of 2019, the tourist flow to that country decreased by 9% compared to the same period the year before, Kommersant writes.

This means Russians choose budget tours over more exciting destinations. According to Level.Travel, the number of tourists travelling to Turkey for their New Year holidays has grown by about 2%. Also, 4% more tourists from Russia will visit the UAE, compared to last year. A growing number of people have chosen Hainan in China. Level.Travel notes that this resort is among the ten most popular ones for the first time.
