Russians do not trust electronic money

Cash continues to be the most frequently used payment instrument in Russia, representing 89% of all transactions. According to the Levada Lab project of the Levada Center analytical center, only 2% of Russians prefer electronic transactions.

Experts found out that cash is still the most popular payment method in Russia, followed by bank cards, which are used by 58% of the population. Some people – 15% – pay with credit cards.

Another 15% of respondents use bonus cards issued by cafes and shops; some 13% of respondents use fashionable contactless payment. Another 11% said that they transfer the money to the seller’s mobile phone account. E-wallets, such as Yandex.Money and WebMoney are much less popular in Russia. They are used by 11% of respondents.
