Russian beaches will begin to open starting July 1, said Mikhail Degtyaryov, Head of the State Duma Committee for Physical Fitness, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs.
According to the State Duma deputy, the tourist season in Russia will open no matter what. However, certain restrictions will remain in force due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Mikhail Degtyaryov added that the decision on the opening of beaches will be made by regional governments, Parliamentskaga Gazeta (Parliamentary Newspaper) writes. These decisions will depend on the development of the pandemic in the regions.
The deputy also said that traveling abroad is not safe yet and expressed hope that the development of domestic tourism could support the Russian tourist industry.
