Russia’s longest coal conveyor to be built in Sakhalin

East Mining Company (EMCO) has announced the construction of Russia’s longest coal conveyor.

The 28 km long conveyor will be used for coal deliveries from the Solntsevsky coal mine to the sea port of Shakhtyorsk. Coal will then be exported to Asian countries. The launch of the conveyor will allow for increasing coal exports by almost three times, from the current 7.5 mio tons to 20 mio tons. The equipment will be manufactured by French RBL-REI SA. The construction will begin in the late 2019 and will be completed in two years. Investments in the project will be RUR 7.8 bln ($118 mio). EMCO, a resident of the Free Port of Vladivostok, plans to invest about RUR 20 bln in the development of the coal industry in the Uglegorsk County of Sakhalin in the next four years.
