An ambitious genetic technology project will be started in the Novosibirsk Region, where a Center for Genetic Technologies will open at Novosibirsk Research Center.

The innovation center will implement a whole range of full cycle science and technology projects aimed at developing and introducing new agricultural, environmental and biological technologies of global standards. In particular, a unique SPF vivarium 2.0 will be created for translational pharmacology – a facility for keeping laboratory animals and conducting research trials.

Investments in the new center will total over RUR 20 bln ($304 mio). The project will be implemented in accordance with tasks outlined in the Russian President’s address.

“Opening of a Center for Genetic Technologies is among flagship projects for Novosibirsk Research Center’s development”, Novosibirsk Region Minister of Science and Innovation Policy Alexei Vasilyev said. This project is initiated by the federal research center Institute of Cytology and Genetics of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, one of the country’s leading scientific organizations in the genetic research sector”.
