The Moscow Mayor: Infrastructure development remains Moscow’s priority

Moscow’s priority is infrastructure development. Each rouble invested in this sector brings three roubles in investment, Sergei Sobyanin said during the National Development Goals: Strategy of Russia for 2018-2024 open dialogue at the 10th Gaidar Forum.

“Over the previous years we have experienced some serious turbulence — crisis by crisis. Nevertheless, we have made Moscow’s infrastructure development a priority. For every rouble we invest, we get three roubles in investment, regardless of the crisis situation,”said the Mayor.

He noted that over the past eight years there has been no decline in investment activity. During this time, the volume of investment in fixed assets grew by 80 percent in comparable figures.

Sergei Sobyanin added that additional funds should be directed specifically to large urban metropolises: “I’m convinced there will be no growth in either an innovation economy or in labour productivity without developing large metropolises and cities.”
