Tretyakov Gallery launches My Tretyakov blockchain project

The State Tretyakov Gallery is launching its own blockchain project, My Tretyakov, in partnership with RDI.Digital innovation company, TASS agency reports.

The project is aimed at digitizing the art gallery’s collection and will be financed by philanthropists who will be the ‘patrons’ of the digital copies of the masterpieces. The paintings and their patrons will be selected randomly. The amount of donations have not been revealed yet: it is currently being discussed.

Due to the innovative digital project, everyone can now become a philanthropist and have a digitalized copy of a masterpiece. By the way, the right to be a patron can be given as a present. The blockchain will contain the data about the relation between the patron and the digital copy of the painting.

The global art market is showing a growing interest in innovative technology, including the artificial intelligence. It has even become possible to create pieces of art using the AI. As Invest Foresight reported earlier, Portrait of Edmond Bellamy, created by a generative adversarial network, was sold at Christie’s for $432K. Now, it seems, it is time for the distributed ledger technology to announce itself in the art world.
