Irkut Corporation has published a report video on the manufacturing of the Russian MC-21 airliner and its flight tests.
The Irkut MC-21 (Mainline Aircraft of the 21st Century) is a Russian single-aisle twinjet airliner; its first flight took place on May 28, 2017. The use of composite materials is the primary characteristic of the MC-21.
The corporation planned to use US-made composites, bur the US sanctions forced the company to switch to Russian producers, which resulted in a postponement of flight tests by a year, until the end of 2020.
Some RUR 250 bln ($3.9 bln) will be required for the implementation of the MC-21 project and the modernization of the manufacturing process.
