
Russia’s military capacity has largely increased since 2008, the German daily newspaper Die Welt reported citing a study by Swedish Defense Research Agency of the Swedish Ministry of Defense.
Over recent years, the country has significantly raised its defense spending and conducted military exercises more frequently, which resulted in the nation’s greater military potential. According to western experts, today Russia’s army has the ability of conducting regional wars and project its power in Syria and Ukraine simultaneously.
By 2029, Russia’s military potential will be concentrated against Europe, experts said. They expressed concerns about the Russian armed forces’ expanding superiority close to NATO’s eastern border, which is backed by nuclear weapons.
