Russia‘s Perm-based company Promobot will soon start manufacturing human-looking androids, TASS news agency reported.
The developers say humanoid robots will exhibit intelligence – at least, the company assures that they will be able to engage into business processes. They will also display emotions with facial expressions and will be able to make conversation. Promobot co-founder Oleg Kivokurtsev calls these androids ‘companion robots,’ adding this will be the world’s first project of the kind.
The company has already developed a prototype model and plans to start manufacturing the initial batch of androids soon. Promobot will produce 10 devices every month. Interestingly, the robots’ appearance can vary greatly, with customers having the opportunity to order an android version of themselves, if desired.
