The Russian Defense Ministry closed a deal with Kalashnikov Concern on the supply of Kalashnikov AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles (50,000 in 2019, 2020 and 2021) to the Russian Armed Forces.
The first deliveries of AK-12 assault rifles under a state defense order took place in December 2018 when the concern supplied the first batch of 2,500 assault rifles. The ministry is so far the only buyer of AK-12 that will replace AK-74M.
