Seversky Pipe Plant based in the Sverdlovsk Region has launched a facility that will be responsible for thermal processing and hardening of pipes.
However, the facility will only be dealing with pipes in the premium segment. Added durability will be provided by heating pipes to 850ºC while the end product will be used in wells drilled in aggressive environments, including in the Far North.
In addition to the pipe hardening workshop, new waste treatment facilities have been put in operation that will use recirculation.
The project to build a facility for heat treatment of pipes was part of the development strategy of the TMK metal company and a respective investment program. The amount of investment is estimated at $5.5 bln.
