Russian Space Systems has developed a technology to produce microwave switching cards based on natural dielectric, corporate website reports. This will allow making the microwave devices in space equipment smaller and lighter, as well as optimize the production process and make them cheaper. The first characteristics estimation of microwave switching cards based on natural dielectric confirmed their stability even under high temperature differential in space.
RSS researchers developed and patented the technology to produce multilayer microwave cards. The technology implies forming a thick polymer layer in two stages combining centrifugal and spraying, shielding electronic assemblies of the card and using a miniature anchor in the natural layer to provide adhesive durability of the connections. The new microwave cards will be used in perspective Russian spacecraft.
