According to the Center for Strategic Research (CSR), workers aged over 45 risk losing their jobs the most. They are most likely to have their wages reduced or be transferred to a part-time position, RBC reports.
Forty percent of the companies participating in a CSR survey noted that they do not consider their employees’ age as a factor. However, the majority (53%) reported that workers over 45 have already faced certain difficulties when it comes to job security.
Women and young professionals are also at risk. Although almost 70% survey takers claim that worsening employment conditions have nothing to do with gender, one-fifth of the respondents agreed that female employees are more likely to be considered for an employment terms review. It is less common for men to be discriminated at work, according to 10% of the respondents.
Almost half of the companies participating in the poll have already changed their employment contracts with junior staff and employees who have less than one year of working experience. Human resources staff should be expecting lay-offs and salary cuts; advertising and marketing specialists may also face dismissals. So far, sales teams have not been subject to worsening employment conditions.
