Saudi Arabia to Invest $200 Million in Russia’s Orenburg Agricultural Sector

The Kingdom was the guest country of SPIEF 2026, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Riyadh. According to TASS, the Saudi delegation was led by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud and included around 200 representatives of government agencies, development institutions, and private companies.

The investment agreement was signed between Saudi Arabia’s Transformation Corp, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Kassir, and the government of the Orenburg Region.

According to Kristina Tantsyura, CEO and Managing Partner of SKY Consulting Group and Chair of the UAE and Gulf Countries Committee at the Russian Exporters and Importers Association, the agreement provides for $200 million in Saudi investment in the region’s agricultural industry.

“Saudi Arabia’s role as the main guest country at SPIEF 2026 should primarily be viewed through an economic lens,” Tantsyura said. “The Kingdom is one of the world’s largest investors and is currently implementing Vision 2030, an ambitious economic transformation program backed by hundreds of billions of dollars.”

She noted that Vision 2030 remains one of the most closely watched economic initiatives globally, attracting the attention of international businesses, financial institutions, and industrial companies. For Russian companies, this creates additional opportunities to establish direct partnerships with a country that is actively investing in industry, technology, logistics, and trade.

Tantsyura also emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s presence at the forum helped facilitate practical negotiations between businesses and government authorities. The agreement with Orenburg, she said, is a direct result of growing economic ties between the two sides.

“The deal follows a visit by a Saudi business delegation to the Orenburg Region in March this year, organized with the support of the Russian Exporters and Importers Association,” she said. “During that visit, Saudi partners expressed strong interest in the region’s investment potential, logistics infrastructure, and export opportunities.”

The agreement highlights the growing economic cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia as both countries seek to expand investment partnerships beyond the energy sector.
