Russia and Türkiye have signed a memorandum of understanding on the supply of mineral fertilizers, the Ministry of Agriculture announced. The document is intended to lay the groundwork for a further increase in Russian exports; notably, fertilizer shipments to Türkiye have already nearly doubled in 2025, Interfax reports.

Trade in agricultural products between the two countries has also accelerated significantly. Between January and July 2026, trade volume grew by nearly 30% year-on-year, with Russian exports rising by over 40% and Turkish shipments to Russia increasing by more than 10%.
Grain and oilseeds remain Russia’s primary commodities on the Turkish market, while Türkiye’s exports to Russia consist mainly of fruit – such as peaches, cherries, apricots, and citrus. For the full year of 2025, bilateral trade in agricultural products grew by only 5.5%, meaning the growth rate in 2026 is currently substantially higher. The new memorandum is expected to further boost Russia’s share of this trade through fertilizer supplies.
