A Kalibr Technology Park resident is participating in the Up Great technology competition, called “The First Element. Air,” to develop a hydrogen fuel cell for small unmanned vehicles.
Teams face a difficult challenge: they are to create batteries that are comparable in power to traditional engines. The competition requires mounting the power system on a multi-propeller drone, and keeping it airborne longer than the other entrants, but for no less than three hours.
Under the rules, the teams have to find sources to fund their projects. However, they can attract investors and use their production capacity.
One of the teams’ partners is the Kalibr Technology Park. It provided a site to test the drone.
“Technology competitions result in start-ups and new skills, and they give participants the opportunity to not only receive monetary grants, but also to achieve an authoritative position in the professional environment, and to gain respect in the professional community,” said Alexei Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.
The competition winner and the second and third place winners will be awarded.
