In December, all offices of Sberbank have launched sales of a product that insures bank cards against cyberincidents: writing off money as the result of unauthorised contactless payment, using a client’s smartphone, or malware infection of a device. The product has an additional service: free installation of security solution by Kaspersky Lab on smartphones.
It is the first time when the service on insurance against cyberrisks is provided for individuals on the Russian market.
“We constantly integrate modern technology in our products and aim at providing services for our clients in the most convenient way. Russians started go online more often, using smartphones, not PCs or tablets. Satisfying clients’ preferences, we have included in our flagship insurance product for individuals insurance against relevant risks while making contactless payments, internet purchases and online transfers. The addition of insurance against cyberincidents to the standard pack of insurance risks and inclusion of an additional service on antivirus software installation didn’t affect the product price. About 170,000 policies of Card Security + were provided in Sberbank’s offices for the first week after its launch,” Senior Vice President and Head of Wealth Management Block of Sberbank Natalya Alymova said.
According to Kaspersky Lab, 360,000 new malicious software samples appear every day all over the world. Each action in the network is potentially dangerous: visiting websites, online shops, downloading apps, opening e-mail attachments. In 2018, Kaspersky Lab warded off 404 mln attacks in Russia, including about 5 mln malicious installation packages on mobile devises. The installation of special security solution on a smartphone where there is information on bank cards decreases cases of being affected by cyberattacks to a minimum. However, if fraudsters withdraw money from a card, using information on mobile device, clients will receive insurance coverage in accordance with fixed limits.
