The Russian Ministry of Economic Development suggests introducing new social electricity consumption rates and cancelling concessions.

The basic tariff will include 300 kWh per month, the increased tariff 300-500 kWh and the economically viable tariff over 500 kWh. For the last two tariffs, the electricity prices will go up. At the same time, concessions for the owners of electric stoves and people living in villages will be gradually abandoned, while for those who live in houses not connected to heat supply consumption limits will be increased. By 2033, all concessions will be canceled. At the moment, city residents who have electric stoves pay their electric bills with a decreasing coefficient of 0.7.

However, not all government members support these amendments, fearing a civil disorder. The Ministry of Energy does not support the project, while the Government Staff led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak is going go make a decision “with regard to the population’s real income.”
