The exoskeleton developed by Russian engineers for robotics operators and assault engineering and sapper units has been tested in combat, including in Syria.
The EO-01.02 innovative product was developed by GB Engineering. According to the company’s head, Sergei Smaglyuk, the exoskeleton is totally foolproof. Usually, this term means that the device is resistant to errors and cannot perform dangerous actions even if one key is pressed several times or in a random fashion. Smaglyuk explained how a soldier wearing the exoskeleton carried a 35-kg control panel on him for nine hours and was hardly tired, because the exoskeleton shouldered most of the load.
“It allows full mobility: you can bend down, turn around, walk at a brisk pace, and even run,” he said. “The exoskeleton can be worn on top of the uniform or on top of an assault bulletproof vest. Once fitted to the user’s height, it no longer requires maintenance or adjustment. It does not clog, does not get wet, and forgives mistakes.”
In the coming years, hundreds of EO-01.02 sets will be supplied to the Russian military. The product weighs 7 kg at the same time allowing the wearer to carry up to 70 kg of cargo.
