The initiative is branded as MAIYA (Medical Artificial Intelligence. Your Assistant) and will allow combining various medical serviced on a single platform. Its neural network is capable of analyzing various data to detect health abnormalities and irregularities. The system would be able to analyze cardiograms, X-ray images, mammograms, perform ocular fundus diagnostics, etc. MIPT researchers are certain the platform will be useful in various therapy areas. It facilitates big data analysis and eliminates man-made mistakes.

The system designers believe that apart from doctors, it could be employed by regular people who care about their health.

“It may not be claimed an AI will soon replace a doctor, even though there was a report lately that an AI successfully passed exams and was awarded a medical degree. Yet there is a moral aspect to that. The platform developers will not accept risks of determining a diagnosis. The system merely offers recommendations and a third party opinion, whereas ultimate decisions are to be made by a real doctor”, researchers stress.
