An enterprise producing fuel pellets and briquettes made of woodworking and lumber processing waste has opened at the Amurlitmash plant (engaged in design and manufacturing of machine-building equipment) located at the Komsomolsk advanced social and economic development zone in the Khabarovsk Territory of the Russian Far East.
The investment project worth RUR 26 mio ($397K) is being implemented by Russia’s Solnechny Krug enterprise in cooperation with a South Korean company. A relevant agreement was signed with the Far East Development Corporation, a managing company for regional advanced special economic zones and free port of Vladivostok.
The plant will create 47 jobs; its production capacity is up to 8,000 cubic meters of raw materials and 2,000 tons of finished product per month. Woodworking waste is provided by resident companies from the Komsomolsk development zone. On average, one ton of fuel pellets require 3 cubic meters of waste.
The Komsomolsk advanced social and economic development zone was created in accordance with a government resolution. It currently has eight investment platforms (woodworking, metal processing, food industry, machine-building, machine processing, tourism and recreation); 23 investment projects worth a total of RUR 37 bln ($564 mio) are being implemented there.
