The financial regulatory body indicated the deadline for completing collection of Russian citizens’ biometric data.
The Central Bank set a term of ten years. For now, Russians’ ‘digitization’ is going rather slow. First Deputy Governor of Central Bank Sergei Shvetsov commented that the system that was launched exactly one year ago currently holds data of only 20,000 bank customers. The stats were announced during the International Insurance Conference underway in St. Petersburg.
It is reported that currently, banks in 140 Russian cities are collecting biometrics. Customers’ personal and biometric information is then transferred to the Integrated Authentication System and the Integrated Biometric System operated by Central Bank and the Fintech Association.
Digital profiles will allow customers to use all financial services remotely and, in the long run, receive certain public and municipal services in the comfort of their homes.
