Coronavirus: First death confirmed in Russia

Russia has reported its first death from the new coronavirus. The patient was an elderly woman from Moscow, who died from pneumonia and had several underlying conditions.

The 79-year-old woman was taken to hospital on March 13. After testing positive for the coronavirus, she was put in an isolation ward.

The patient had serious underlying conditions such as diabetes, atherosclerotic vascular disease, and high blood pressure, the Kommersant business daily reported.

The woman’s relatives are currently under medical supervision. So far, they have shown no symptoms of the disease.
