Coronavirus ten times deadlier than swine flu – WHO

Swine flu was manifold less dangerous than the novel coronavirus, said World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Tedros Ghebreyesus.

According to Ghebreyesus, the swine flu outbreak happened ten years ago. But the current coronavirus pandemic is much more deadly because it spreads way too quickly, Independent reports. The coronavirus has already killed ten times more people than swine flu.

Ghebreysesus also said that the information from several countries is providing a clearer picture about the danger of the coronavirus. In particular, it is known that the virus spreads more easily in crowded environments, therefore self-isolation is a necessary measure to slow down the pandemic.
