COVID-19’s most effective cure developed by Moscow doctors

Moscow healthcare professionals are searching for the most effective methods of treating coronavirus. There is a special team collaborating with the Ministry of Healthcare, federal research institutions and medical universities to develop methods and find the most effective medicines, website of Moscow Mayor reports.

According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, “There are medications that help at all stages of the disease — at the initial stage, with very mild symptoms, at the stage when a person develops the first severe symptoms, including fever, cough, and so on, and at the stage when patients need emergency care. The medicines we have are not perfect, but they really help at all these stages. Meanwhile, specialists have been searching for new treatment methods.”

One of the methods is transfusion of antibody-rich blood plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19 and built up an immunity. Any such persons can be blood plasma donors provided they have no restrictions on donation of blood and its components, and no chronic diseases. As Sergei Sobyanin pointed out, there had been a special decision adopted entitling donors of such blood to incentive payments.

Also, the Moscow Mayor asked Muscovites to avoid self-medication and recommended to call a doctor at the first symptoms of the disease. “Unfortunately, the patients with most severe symptoms and two-thirds of fatal coronavirus cases are those who have tried to self-medicate, and then ended up in our hospitals, so, self-medication is strictly prohibited,” he said.
