Most Russians, 78%, are concerned about the coronavirus pandemic. However, more than a third of the respondents, 37%, believe the restrictions imposed by the government are excessive, according to a survey by Romir Gallup International commissioned by the Civil Society Development Foundation (FCSD).
Those who disagree with the stringent lockdown around the country were asked to list exactly what restrictions they disapproved of. The respondents cited the self-isolation orders and fines for violating them. Also, Russians are unhappy with the restrictions on travelling around the city and the closure of many enterprises, which leads to the loss of jobs.
Meanwhile, 56% of respondents said the coronavirus threat is strong and real, and only 23% consider it insignificant. Another 3% believe the coronavirus is a conspiracy of pharmaceutical companies, RBC reports.
Russians were also asked how they would react to tighter lockdown requirements: 65% said they would have accepted this decision, while 24% of the population would react negatively.
