For the first time in the history of the Russian advertising market, in 2018 the total spending on online advertising surpassed TV ad spending, a survey by the Association of Russian Communication Agencies reports.
The total spending on advertisement in Russia in 2018 was (net of VAT) RUR 469 bln ($7 bln), growing by 12% from 2017. At the same time, online advertising spending grew faster that others and reached RUR 203 bln, which is 22% more than in 2017.
TV ad spending grew slower, by only 9%. But this is still an impressive result as compared to the printed media market where ad spending fell by 12%. However, online versions of traditional media grew by 13%.
According to the survey, radio advertising spending remained the same as in 2017.
