During the New Year holidays, Russians drink one fourth of the annual champagne consumption. The Nenets Autonomous Area is the region whose residents consume the most sparkling wine, a research by the RIA Novosti news agency’s analysts revealed.

A total of 215 million bottles of champagne are sold in Russia annually, with each resident drinking an average of two bottles per year. In the past few years, the popularity of the sparkling wine has shown an annual growth of 2-3%.
