The Russian government is considering the possibility to establish a new airline in the Far East in order to improve accessibility of the region.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the government to consider the establishment of an airline in the Far East. Senator Ivan Abramov earlier pointed out the importance of this decision: the air fares from Central Russia to the Far East have been soaring. Flat fare tickets do not solve the problem, for such tickets are snapped up in an instant.
Subsidizing flights to the Far East does not work either because only certain groups can receive such tickets, Izvestia daily writes. The new airline could solve all these problems, but it should be established with the participation of the state, Federation Council members believe.
