Genomic selection center opens in Domodedovo

A genomic selection center has opened in Domodedovo, Moscow Region, AK&M agency’s webpage reports.

Genomic selection is a breeding method based on the study of DNA. Combined with conventional methods, it genomic selection makes it possible to precisely predict the breeding value of an animal at an early age. 

The new genetic veterinary laboratory kitted out with the most up-to-date equipment and capable of conducting 400,000 DNA research studies per year, will be among the world’s top 5 pig, bovine and small cattle genome research centers.
