Georgian travel industry’s losses estimated at $ 60 mio

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze estimated the losses of the country’s tourism sector at $ 60 mio, as fewer Russian tourists visited the country in July, and proposed assisting all companies involved in the tourism business. According to local statistics, Russians accounted for 21% of foreign tourists in 2018.

The President of Russia at the end of June issued an order banning Russian airlines’ flights to Georgia from July 8; the Russian Ministry of Transport banned Georgian carriers’ flights to Russia.
