Government sees two scenarios for the Russian economy

The Russian Government is preparing two forecasts of the country’s economic development: one is ‘optimal,’ the second one is ‘more complicated.’

According to the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s economy is developing slower than it was predicted, and this pace does not allow for fulfilling all tasks.  However, he added, this does not mean that nothing can be done to improve the economic situation.

Dmitry Medvedev expressed hope that national projects, as well as some “changes in our economy,” could right the ship, Vesti.ru publication reports. Medvedev said that the country has all the necessary resources to achieve its goals. In addition, the economic growth depends not only on the measures taken by the government, but also on the global environment. The sanctions, as well as the trade war between China and the US are having a negative impact on the Russian economy.
