Integrated database of Russian citizens may be created in Russia

An integrated database of the Russian population may be created in Russia as per a bill submitted by the Russian Government to the State Duma. The bill was published on the website of the lower house of parliament.

The bill regulates development and maintenance of the database, “including collection, processing, storage, retrieval, use and protection of data as well as harmonization of state and municipal information resources” that contain data on Russian citizens.

It is expected that the Federal Tax Service will be responsible for creating and updating records.

“According to the bill, the federal database will contain essential data of Russian citizens (full name, date and place of birth and death, gender, birth and death records, social security number, tax identification number) and additional data such as marital status and kinship,” states the commentary to the draft law.
