Malaysia invites Russia’s weaponry exporter to arms exhibitions in Southeast Asia

Russian and Malaysian DMs Sergei Shoigu and Mohamad Sabu had negotiations in Moscow, Russian Defense ministry’s webpage reports and quotes Sergei Shoigu as saying, “We attach great importance to the improvement of the legal framework of bilateral relations. The Russian Defense Ministry is ready to establish direct contacts to coordinate positions with the Malaysian Defense Department.” Malaysia, as Shoigu noted, is one of Russia’s key partners in Southeast Asia.

“Our relations are based on principles of mutual respect and trust, bilateral interest in building up multifaceted cooperation which has intensified in all areas, including military and technical cooperation, as well as joint resistance to modern challenges and threats,” Sergei Shoigu said.

In turn, Mohamad Sabu noted that Malaysia has maintained good bilateral relations with Russia in the military and technical fields since 1999, and invited the Rosoboronexport, Russian government’s agent for exporting full range of military, dual-use products, services, and technologies, to actively participate in arms exhibitions in Southeast Asia.
