Manifold increase of Russia’s potential in modern technology

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Francis Gurry had a meeting on Wednesday to discuss current aspects of Russia-WIPO cooperation, as well as international laws on intellectual property, government web page reports.

According to Dmitry Medvedev, “Over the past few years, positive changes have taken place in Russia in the field of intellectual property, including because of our efforts at WIPO. A WIPO office at Skolkovo innovations center has opened and is functioning well, offering additional opportunities to all those who are interested in protecting their intellectual rights. This is the result of our interaction with WIPO, and we are delighted that we are being actively involved in the various processes that are ongoing at the organization.”

As Francis Gurry noted, “Russia is moving in leaps and bounds, especially in the field of technology, or more precisely, high technology. Skolkovo is the best example of this. We see a manifold increase of Russia’s potential when it comes to modern technology and new initiatives regarding the protection of intellectual property, which is benefiting a wide range of industries.”
