Mobile service prices to rise sharply in Russia

Russian telecom operators will charge users 18% more next year, the Content Review analytical agency reports.

The rise is primarily due to the increased operator costs fueled by the Spring Package laws, as well as by the sovereign internet law. Experts note that the prices may grow unevenly: the cheapest plans may go up first, followed by medium-priced and premium-level ones. On the other hand, the price tag in the last two categories will grow faster.

The mobile service prices will also be influenced by the growing electricity bills and the Russian ruble’s fluctuations, RIA Novosti reports. Analysts note that the abolition of intra-network roaming will also play a role.
