Nanolek begins production of GSK vaccines

Russia’s Nanolek biopharmaceutical company and GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK), an international research pharmaceutical company, have announced a long-term strategic partnership, which will involve the production of GSK vaccines at production facilities in Russia’s Kirov Region.

The first stage of the 10-year joint project includes the transfer of GSK chickenpox vaccine production to the Russian platform. The launch is planned for 2021. Joint investments for the period of the project implementation will amount to RUR 6.5 bln ($104 mio).

Later on, the two companies plan to expand their portfolio and transfer the production of other GSK vaccines to Russia. The production localization will be implemented in accordance with the development strategy of Russia’s pharmaceutical industry.
